Representational Image UNBThe move comes to ensure food security, according to an official statementThe government has decided to procure additional 200,000 tons of chemical fertilizer in 2020-21 fiscal year to ensure crop production and food security. Of the 200,000 tons, 100,000 tons will be urea, and the rest will be Diammonium phosphate (DAP), according to an official statement. “The government has revised chemical fertilizer demand for the current fiscal year, in need of proper and extended cultivation. Earlier, the demand of urea fertilizer was fixed at 2.45 million tons and DAP at 1.3 million tons. Now, the demand for urea stands at 2.55 million tons, and DAP at 1.4 million tons.
