Mr. Jain said though the government and the municipal corporations had already worked together for an ongoing awareness campaign, a “big campaign involving the people” would be launched soon. Both the Health Department and the municipal corporations have published advertisements in newspapers, on radio and through hoardings about the need to prevent mosquito breeding. Mr. Jain said the new campaign would focus on the participation of Delhiites, and would likely be launched in a week’s time. The city had recorded 320 cases and two deaths till July 16, while other States not only had more cases, but also a higher fatality rate, he said. For instance, Gujarat had 339 cases and 81 deaths; Rajasthan had 412 cases and 59 deaths; Maharasthtra had 2,738 cases and 303 deaths; and Kerala had 1,197 cases and 67 deaths.
