NewsThe Government has decided to declare a State of Emergency island-wide for a period of 10 days to maintain law and order following violent incidents experienced in Digana and Teldeniya, Minister S.B. Dissanayake told journalists a short while ago. The Minister said the decision was taken at today's Cabinet meeting. Accordingly, the gazette signed by President Maithripala Sirisena declaring a State of Emergency will be issued today, the Minister added. The State of Emergency was lifted in 2011 after being imposed for 28 years.
