NewsCabinet has approved a proposal presented by Minister of Irrigation, Water Resources and Disaster Management Duminda Dissanayake to carry out a systametic assessment to identify the chemical disaster risks in Sri Lanka during the 2019-2020 period. In announcing the approval of the Cabinet proposal, the Government further disclosed that a study conducted by the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) has proved that many of the chemical accidents in Sri Lanka have occurred due to unawareness, lack of proper maintenance of premises, weakness of supervision and wrong industrial use
