“From now on, we will build overpasses at the places of four-way intersections for making communications smooth and easier alongside stopping traffic gridlocks,” said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina while inaugurating three development schemes through video conference from Ganabhaban on Saturday. She inaugurated four-lane ‘Second Kanchpur Bridge’ on the river Shitalakkhya, four-lane flyover at Bhulta and a railway overpass at Latifpur on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway. The Prime Minster renamed the ‘Second Kanchpur Bridge’ as ‘Shitalakkhya Bridge’ with an aim to save the River’s name. Checking road accidentsPrime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked the authorities concerned to take steps so that drivers cannot engage in 'evil race' on highways and roads as those often cause fatal accidents. Sheikh Hasina told the authorities concerned to be strict on allowing overweight trucks while plying bridges.
