GEORGE TOWN: The Government should not be evaluated based on its popularity, but based on if the Ministers are carrying out their duties and responsibilities, says Penang state executive councillor Dr Afif Bahardin. Dr Afif said he believed that after the General Elections, the people were assessing those in power based on performance and how responsibilities were carried out, as well as the new policies that have been introduced. Dr Afif was commenting on former PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli who yesterday (Dec 19) warned that the post-election euphoria in favour of Pakatan Harapan was running out fast. Rafizi cited figures from a survey conducted early this month, which put Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s ratings at 53%, a 19% drop from a similar survey in June 2018, a month afterPakatan Harapan won the May 9 polls. Dr Afif said he was not sure what Rafizi meant as he had not read the about it, but expressed his confidence that the Prime Minister and the cabinet are putting in all their effort to fulfil their promises and to carry out the reformation that was promised before GE14.
