Government on Monday waived off parking charges at airports across the country till midnight of November 21, as commuters were unable to tender exact change following demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes. “Airports Authority of India as per the government guidelines has decided not to charge parking fee for seven days starting from midnight tonight,” an AAI official said. Financial compensation for private companies running parking areas will be discussed later, the official added. The move comes after the government withdrew Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes as part of a crackdown against black money. People are facing tough time in swapping their demonetised notes for new notes due to various reasons.
