Govt says Ghani’s remarks amount to interference in Pakistan’s internal affairs


On Monday, Ghani tweeted that he was “troubled by the arrest of Manzoor Pashteen and his colleagues”. The tweet came hours after Pashteen was arrested by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police over charges of sedition and condemnation of state. I fully echo the concerns raised by Amnesty International in this regard and hope for their immediate release. “We have noted with serious concern the recent tweets by President Ashraf Ghani, which are a clear interference in Pakistan’s internal affairs and hence, unwarranted. It is Pakistan’s law to take legal action against elements who are against the Constitution,” said Awan.
