Govt removes defence procurement ban on AgustaWestland, parent company Leonardo

AgustaWestland and its parent company Leonardo, previously Finmeccanica, were dropped from the list of firms with which defence procurement was suspended by the Union ministry of defence. The government banned Leonardo (then named Finmeccanica) from all future military contracts in 2014, following the alleged scam around the VVIP chopper deal. The ministry had issued a list of companies that were either debarred, suspended or put on hold earlier on November 12. Defence Ministry issues a fresh list of firms with whom dealings have been suspended, put on hold, or suspended.
