It will assess IT education benchmarks for youth in line with global standardsISLAMABAD: The government has planned to set up a regulatory authority for the information technology sector in an effort to exploit the potential of talented youth. “The regulatory authority will work to examine benchmarks of IT education for the youth in line with international standards,” Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui told journalists at the 16th NTC All Pakistan Inter-Regional Badminton Tournament, sponsored by Huawei Technologies Pakistan. The current Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is striving to increase overall exports of the country with particular focus on the IT sector. “This is the world of digitalisation and the government wants to impart IT education to the youth in line with international standards,” Siddiqui remarked, adding that the regulatory authority would achieve that purpose. About the renewal of licences of telecom operators, Siddiqui said the government was to renew the licences in May this year.
