more-inMumbai: To speed up Metro rail construction, the State Cabinet on Tuesday gave final approvals to the Metro-5 and Metro-6 lines. The Metro-5 line will connect Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan covering a distance of approximately 25 km., while the 14.47-km Metro-6 will connect Lokhandwala-Jogeshwari-Kanjurmarg. The government has already begun phases 2A, 3 and 4 of the Mumbai Metro Rail Project. Civil works are in progress for phases 2A and 3, while tendering is in process for the Wadala-Thane stretch. We estimate the Dahisar-DN Nagar stretch to be completed by the end of 2019,” a senior government officer said.
