KUALA LUMPUR: Privatisation seems the likely outcome for listed toll operators once the government decides to abolish the toll entirely. Listed toll concessionaire companies include IJM Corp Bhd, WCE Holdings Bhd, Taliworks Corp Bhd, Ahmad Zaki Resources Bhd, Gamuda Bhd, Bina Puri Holdings Bhd, Ekovest Bhd, Lingkaran Trans Kota Holdings Bhd (Litrak) and Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd. “Once decided, then the challenge would be getting at the acquisition price that will be accepted by all these toll operators’ shareholders,” he said. Uncertainty still lingers among toll operators currently, as the government has yet to make any decision on whether to remove toll entirely or in stages. It was reported that the government needs to fork out RM55 billion to take over all the toll operators’ debt obligations alone and this does not include compensation.
