KARACHI: Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed on Saturday said that letting the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif assume the office of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman was a “mistake” that the government would most probably regret later on. He was addressing a press conference in Karachi where he revealed that he had told Prime Minister Imran Khan that a public gathering was not necessary for Mianwali. “How can corrupt persons take part in the process of accountability of others?” he added while vowing to approach the country’s apex court regarding the PAC chairmanship matter. He further commented on the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), saying that the premier does not have options regarding the matter. “The PM has played a critical role in preventing strict terms and conditions of the International Monetary Fund (IMF),” Rasheed stated.
