Cabinet Media Spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella stated that the government is in the process of conducting a full investigation into the imported coconut oil containing aflatoxin. He also said that action will be taken against certain government officials who are involved in the importation of the same. He was speaking to the media at a press briefing held at the Information Department premises today (06). Speaking further the Minister said that because the importation of coconut oil in this manner could have been going on for a long time, the government has decided to look into the matter deeply. Commenting on the gazette notification issued to stop the importation of palm oil, he said that the notification could change in the future as the price of coconut oil in the local market could go up due to this.
