KUALA LUMPUR: The Integrated Manasik Monitoring System (Imams) for umrah visa applications which was launched on Friday, has been cancelled. Deputy Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, who announced the cancellation, said the Government would look into a more effective way to deal with fraudulent umrah packages. Imams implementation, which was the sole official access of umrah visa applications to be processed by the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Malaysia, aimed at addressing the umrah package frauds in the country. She also gave the guarantee that those involved in the new system would be Muslims. In a tweet, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the cancellation of Imams was appropriate.
