Hike aimed at generating additional revenue of Rs53.52b over next 12 monthsKARACHI: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has approved an increase of Rs0.53 per unit in power tariff to generate additional revenue of Rs53.52 billion over the next 12 months. The increase in the tariff is applicable for all types of consumers including domestic, industrial and commercial ones. The hike is not applicable on consumers of K-Electric and those using less than 300 units per month nationwide. Earlier, the federal cabinet approved the surge in the tariff worked out by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra). The distribution companies had submitted a petition demanding to recover Rs93 billion from the consumers over 12-month duration.OurRead full story
