Ihuoma ChiedozieThe people of Awkunanaw clan comprising 21 communities in Enugu South and Nkanu West local government areas of Enugu State have expressed confidence that Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, will be succeeded by somebody from Nkanuland in 2023. Presenting the Ofo to the governor, the Chairman of Awkunanaw Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Felix Nwobodo Ani, observed that a second term for Ugwuanyi would pave the way for the people of Nkanuland in Enugu East Senatorial Zone to produce the governor in 2023. The traditional ruler added that the people of Awkunanaw were happy with the governor for the infrastructure put in the area. According to him, the newly constructed road that leads to Obuoffia was the first road project executed in the community. The event, which was part of the activities held to mark the Awkunanaw Day celebration, also witnessed the conferment of a chieftaincy title of ‘Omereoha of Awkunanaw’ on Ugwuanyi by the traditional rulers of the autonomous communities in the clan.
