Taita Taveta governor Andrew Mwadime spent the entire Tuesday being grilled by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officials over graft allegations. “I was not summoned by the anti-graft agency on any corruption allegations,” Mwadime said. “The allegations revolve around conflict of interest, abuse of office, embezzlement of public funds and violation of procurement laws and regulations,” said the source. “Action may also include civil proceedings for individual liability to pay to the government any public funds found to have been stolen or lost,” said the source. The source added that the matter is one of the various cases of theft of public funds in Taita Taveta County that the commission is currently investigating.
