NEW DELHI: India is considering the exemptions sought by Apple to start manufacturing in India, Ramesh Abhishek, secretary in Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), has said. So, Make in India is going quite strong,” Abhishek said on the sidelines of the India Economic Summit 2017. Apple India has sought concessions including duty exemption on manufacturing and repair units, components, capital equipment and consumables for smartphone manufacturing and service/repair for 15 years. The DIPP secretary also said US-based electric vehicle maker Tesla has not submitted any proposal seeking exemptions under FDI policy for companies bringing cutting edge technology. The DIPP had earlier said the policy will be announced by October.
