Nearly $80 million dollars will be spent redeveloping two high schools in Mid-Canterbury. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Education Minister Chris Hipkins announced on Thursday that Ashburton College and Ellesmere College would both undergo major redevelopments. Ardern said both schools required more space for roll growth and needed warm, dry and modern classrooms. The Government also promised to invest nearly $30m in Ellesmere College in Leeston, about 43 kilometres south of Christchurch.
