[File picture, Standard]Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i on Wednesday halted further opening of satellite campuses across the country and urged stakeholders to re-examine how public universities in Kenya are run. ALSO READ: CS Fred Matiang’i motorcade stoned in Kawangware (Photos)Matiang’i also ordered universities to stop hiring staff on permanent and pensionable terms with immediate effect saying new staff will get their contracts from January 2018. The CS told the forum that all financial matters in public universities will be addressed by a universities funding board that would be in charge of channeling finances to all the public universities. The Government has further ordered a clean-up of all universities, especially the one that inherited staff from university colleges.
