Government rejects calls for inquiry into synthetic cannabis

Government rejects calls for inquiry into synthetic cannabisSUPPLIED West Auckland's Calum Jones died on September 1, 2017 in Henderson after using synthetic drugs. The Government will not hold an inquiry into synthetic cannabis, despite appeals from the family of a 22-year-old who died after taking the drug last year. However, Health Minister David Clark said he would not support a separate inquiry into synthetic cannabis. NO SEPARATE INQUIRY NEEDEDWhile rejecting the need for a separate inquiry Clark said he acknowledged the harm caused by synthetic cannabis and was committed to tackling it as part of a wider inquiry into mental health and addiction launched last month. Brown said he feared the danger of synthetic cannabis would be lost in a wider inquiry on addictive substances.
