The minister made the statement in response to a query by ruling party MP Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury. Minister Rezaul Karim said a total 24,696 plots have been allocated in Purbachal New Town, of which nearly 15,000 plots have been transferred to their owners. He said the other plots have not been handed over as the development works are taking place on the plots. The housing minister also said that Rajuk identified 321 buildings at risk in Dhaka, of which 255 remained standing and at risk in 2016. He also noted that a coordination committee has been set up under the Ministry of Disaster Management to identify hazardous buildings to demolish.
