However there wasstrong growth in the number of homes built in 2018 compared to the previous year. In 2017, 14,407 homes were built, and in 2018, 18,072 were completed – an increase of just over a quarter. In 2011, the CSO said, semi-detached houses accounted for just over one-third of homes built in estates. The area with the next highest number of homes built was Dublin 24, including Tallaght, Firhouse and Jobstown. The number of homes built last year was 7,000 less than the 25,000 the Government said is the minimum needed to meet demand.
