Not big money, certainly compared to cricket, the six hundred pound gorilla in Indian sport. While Indian hockey got around Rs 28 crore of support, the wrestling and boxing federations got Rs 19 crore and Rs 31 crore respectively. The problem is that these government grants are often looked on as a staple rather an extra allocation. The rules of the game have definitely changed in Indian sport. Even if that is the case, it’s a great first step for Indian sport.
