Government funding for KidsCan runs out next year, no decision on funding renewalSTUFF Child poverty numbers appear to be falling - but the Children's Commissioner is quick to point out an 18 month lag in the data. The Government that's promised to focus on reducing child poverty is yet to decide whether it will continue funding charity KidsCan. KidsCan said it had been told by Oranga Tamariki - Ministry for Children, its $350,000 in government funding would be scrapped from next year. SUPPLIED Minister for Children Tracey Martin says KidsCan does great work but it's too early to make a call on whether their government funding will continue. PM Jacinda Ardern, the Minister Responsible for Child Poverty Reduction, strongly hinted the Government would set child poverty reduction targets with enough flexibility to make it hard for the Opposition to vote against them.
