A billion dollar industrial community in North Waikato may be closer to reality now The Government has fast-tracked a decision on a large factory there. Dominico Zapata/Stuff Huntly Community Board member Red Wootton staunchly supports the Sleepyhead development in Ōhinewai, saying it will transform the neglected town. Waikato District Council, Waikato Regional Council, Waikato-Tainui, Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency and nearby landowners will be contacted for comments. The panel is expected to make a decision on the Sleepyhead factory in early 2021. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said the fast-tracking approval law could expedite housing, jobs and work for the construction industry post Covid-19.
