Landry appointed 18th Judicial District Attorney Tony Clayton and Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stassi to the committee, which includes representatives from education, business, clergy and other entities. Clayton serves as co-chairman of the committee, and Stassi is a voting member. The co-chairman can make recommendations to Landry on all issues that deal with public safety, Clayton said. “That includes state prisons, juveniles, state police … anything that entails the safety of the citizens of Louisiana,” Clayton said. “He’s serious about tackling the crime issues, and he has given us specific orders and we’re going to adhere to him.
