In a statement, the former lawmaker pointed out that government investment in education has yielded positive returns, particularly in increasing access to basic education. Education Secretary Leonor Briones has pointed out that the biggest challenge facing basic education in the country is quality––particularly in the learning outcomes of our students. Filipino students also scored poorly in math and science with a mean of 353 and 336 points, respectively.
