A principal objective of the new regime is to eliminate the black market distribution of cannabis. Illicit cannabis is widely available throughout Canada. Cannabis products are readily available “on the street,” in unlawful dispensaries and over the Internet. For a number of reasons, a robust, permanent e-commerce platform is necessary to displace the illicit market. As a result, we can produce at a scale that allows us to be cost-competitive with the illicit market, even after the imposition of taxes.
