Irish trainer Gordon Elliott's reputation was in tatters after he was banned from the sport for six months over a shocking photograph of him sitting on a dead horse. Elliott received a 12-month ban from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board but six months was suspended. 'I was disrespectful to a dead horse, an animal that had been a loyal servant to me and was loved by my staff. 'The decision confirms that horses will not be able to run at the Cheltenham Festival or Grand National Festival in the name of Gordon Elliott. 'Such background information may seem trivial at this time and will not allay the concerns of many people both within and outside the world of horse racing,' he added.
