2 NHRC has asked for a detailed report on deaths of children in Gorakhpur. In the last three decades, Japanese Encephalitis (JE) and Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) have claimed over 50,000 lives in eastern Uttar Pradesh, mostly in Gorakhpur district. 641 children died last year while 491 died in 2015.
