Google may soon show your internet speed in search results

Google is testing a new tool that automatically surfaces your data speeds in a search result when typing “check internet speed”. It seems Google is trying to capitalise on users searching “speed test” when looking for a tool to check their internet speeds. The search engine is testing out a tool that can measure your data connection speed when you do a corresponding search. Looks like Google is testing their own internet speed test (query = "check internet speed") - not seeing it live -- pic.twitter.com/wjsPIlEbFv — Dr. Pete Meyers (@dr_pete) June 27, 2016So far, the free web analytics tool by Ookla has dominated this sphere, with Netflix recently jumping on the bandwagon with fast.com. Surfacing your connection speed automatically could do wonders to steal some of those users for Google, particularly as it requires one less click.
