Google ‘doodles’ PH flag in honor of 121st Independence DayBy The Manila TimesGOOGLE honored the Philippines’ 121st Independence Day on Wednesday with an image of the national flag on its homepage. In a statement, Google explained to its worldwide audience the meaning of the flag’s colors and symbols. “The Philippine flag itself is a powerful symbol of the independence movement, with each of its colors carrying a significant meaning: blue represents truth and justice, red symbolizes patriotism, and white stands for equality,” Google said. Meanwhile, the eight rays of the sun stands for the first eight provinces that went into battle against Spain.”Google said this was the 10th time it transformed its doodles in honor of Philippine Independence. Last year’s Independence Day “doodle” featured Philippine marine life.
