The only snag is Quandt believes this third Pixel won’t launch alongside the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL in October. Right now, Google’s Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL deliver class-leading results but they achieve it primarily through unique software, not cutting-edge hardware. So price should not be a barrier to a budget Pixel 3 embarrassing rival flagships. And this is what makes a budget Pixel 3 so exciting. So while users nitpick over whether the Pixel 3XL design has been ruined and whether Google could or should have gone with a more radical design option, the same demands won’t be made of a budget Pixel 3.
