Google Hangouts update brings video messages to Android

In a seriously delayed move, Google has finally given Android users the ability to send videos in Hangouts. However, one small consolation is that Hangouts on iOS only lets you upload 360p videos, whereas the Android counterpart supports full HD 1080p. The feature is a welcome addition, despite it being more than a year behind Hangouts for iOS. In addition, Google is also expected to soon roll out two new messaging apps, Allo and Duo. Announced at the company’s dev con earlier this year, Allo is a messaging app with bots and encryption support (likely hopeful competition for Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp) while Duo lets users video chat live, connecting only via phone numbers.
