Investors responded with predictable ebullience; shares ended normal trading on Friday at just below $1,034 per share, Alphabet’s highest closing price ever. As a result, the cofounders’ net worths rose a combined $3.5 billion in the 24 hours through 4 pm Eastern Time Friday. Page ended the day worth an estimated $48.2 billion, and Brin at $46.9 billion, according to Forbes’ real-time rankings of the world’s richest people.
