Helen is one of more than 100,000 people who currently chair the boards of community organisations. We are asking a lot of these passionate volunteers so not surprisingly while many community organisations are well governed, some are not. 74 per cent of community organisations are expecting a reduced income. Good governance in the community sector has never been so important as boards navigate the financial future of their organisations. The aim is that all community organisations in New Zealand are well governed.
