KOTA KINABALU: A man who selflessly jumped into the sea to save a stranger who was struggling in strong currents ended up drowning on Sunday (Nov 10) evening. Abdul Salih Hamza, 47, was having a picnic with his family at the Kelambu beach in Sabah's northern Kudat district, when he saw the victim struggling and dove into the sea to help him. Sabah Fire and Rescue Department operations chief Khatizah Rahaban said they sent a rescue team to the site after receiving a distress call at about 5.29pm. Part of the team went to the victim's rescue while the rest searched for Abdul Salih. Khatizah said both victims were taken to the Kudat Hospital, where Abdul Salih was pronounced dead.
