IN LOCAL NEWSWith the region at the beginning of the year's first major heatwave, Portland and Multnomah County officials are opening five cooling shelters starting tomorrow at 2 pm. Five cooling shelters will open in Portland Tuesday as temperatures are expected to surge into the triple digits. According to the report, almost half the state's Asian residents or one of their family members have been verbally abused. Last week, the MacArthur Justice Center sued Chicago for using ShotSpotter for using the tech to falsely convict a man—and is seeking class-action status to represent any Chicago resident who's been stopped on the basis of ShotSpotter reports.
