It could not decide Mokobbir’s fate in the party in Tuesday’s meeting after Mokobbir took oath as the MP from Sylhet-2 constituency defying the Gono Forum and the Jatiya Oikya Front alliance, both headed by Dr Kamal Hossain. Mokobbir and Sultan decided to join parliament after winning the Dec 30 parliamentary elections as Oikya Front candidates. Hours after former Awami League leader Sultan took oath on Mar 7, Gono Forum Secretary General Mustafa Mohsin Montu at a news conference announced expulsion of Sultan from its presidium. Sultan had claimed he had not been a member of the Gono Forum but the Jatiya Oikya Prokriya platform of Dr Kamal. On Tuesday night, Gono Forum Executive President Subrata Chowdhury told bdnews24.com that Mokobbir would “certainly” face action for “breaching party discipline”, but the action would be taken after discussion with Dr Kamal.
