Goa Forward party has demanded suspension of a senior state police officer who has been accused by a businessman of taking a bribe of Rs 5.5 lakh from him to file an FIR. “Inspector General of Police Sunil Garg should be suspended and an inquiry ordered against him by Union Ministry of Home,” Goa Forward spokesman Durgadas Kamat said on Friday. Kamat on Friday said that the party will write to the Union Home Ministry in this regard. “If top bosses of Goa Police act in this way, then surely the morale of lower officers comes down. Vasco-based businessman Munnalal Halwai had on Thursday accused Garg of accepting Rs 5.5 lakh from him in installments in 2015 for registering an FIR in a cheating case.
