Director Kabir Khan was in his office late Thursday afternoon when the first online reviews for Tubelight and the social media reactions, which were overwhelmingly positive, went viral. Produced by Salman Khan Films’ Amar Butala, the drama follows Salman as Laxman, a happy-go-lucky simpleton who sets off to find his brother Bharat (Sohail), a soldier who goes missing during the war. Zhu Zhu and child actor Matin Rey Tangu play a mother and son who both lost someone dear to them in the war and form bonds with Laxman. Firstpost.com’s Imran Mohammad hailed Tubelight as a feel-good emotional roller coaster ride which conveys a great message: hope pulls us through any situation. Imran described Salman’s performance as a very vulnerable character as a refreshing change from his typical macho, heroic roles.
