Some of the world's brightest minds are gathering in Christchurch this week to discuss how best to tackle the ever-pressing issue of climate change. As members of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) – a global coalition of scientists and academics – they will spend the next five days drafting a report that will inform and influence how governments deal with the problem in the decades ahead. ANDY JACKSON/Fairfax NZ Climate experts will discuss pressing issues such as how best to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture. While discussions will be held behind closed doors, the IPCC meeting will be publicly opened by Climate Change Minister James Shaw on Monday, when he is expected to speak about New Zealand's climate policies and objectives.
