Glenn Close did very well on Monday morning when she was nominated for an Academy Award. It is her eighth nod in her long and impressive career which includes three Primetime Emmy Awards, three Tony Awards, and three Golden Globe Awards. The stage trained actress was singled out for her performance in a supporting role in Hillbilly Elegy which came out in 2020. Her previous nods were for 2019 Nominee Oscar Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role The Wife (2017) and the 2012 nominee Oscar Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role Albert Nobbs (2011). Her work included Broadway productions of Barnum in 1980 and The Real Thing in 1983, for which she won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play.
