After an extensive recruitment process, Nelson College Board of Trustees has appointed Richard Dykes to succeed Gary O'Shea who announced his resignation in September after 13 years at the helm. Dykes is currently principal of Auckland co-ed school Glendowie College which at 1300 students has a slightly larger roll slightly than Nelson's 1067. Nelson College Board of Trustees Chair Dennis Christian said Dykes "will bring a fresh perspective to the College balanced with an understanding and appreciation for our culture and heritage."
