Cricket is a game of unpredictability, and those who walked in to watch Glamorgan play against Gloucestershire on the opening day of the Division 2 County Championship contest were treated with as many as 25 wickets tumbling by the end of the day’s play. At the scenic College Ground which is hosting its annual cricket festival, the two competing teams had to go through a tough time keeping wickets intact, as bowlers from both Glamorgan and Gloucestershire had a field day. They tasted success immediately as the Australia-born Glamorgan opener Nick Selman was run out in the first over itself, which in a way set the tone for the rest of the day’s play. Gloucestershire too found it tough to bat as their innings progressed and were bowled out for 141 in 41.2 overs. It is now a record of sorts for highest number of wickets to fall in a day’s play in a County Championship match.
