OPINION: A lot of New Zealanders have given money to the Victim Support Givealittle appeal to support the families of the men, women and children killed in the Christchurch shootings. SUPPLIED To give is to show support, and to raise your voice in support of families who had loved ones killed or injured in the Christchurch shootings. Researchers have wondered whether the happiness effect of being generous would disappear entirely, if the act of giving was consciously intended by the giver to buy them happiness. There is a suggestion that giving a little has a similar happiness effect as giving a lot. And then, on occasion, we give when something so terrible happens, we want to show our love and support.
