The U.S. war on Afghanistan is the longest war in U.S. history. This isn’t giving war a chance. After 6 years of war, Syria remains fragmented and mired in chaos. Giving war a chance has not worked out well, to put it mildly, in Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Honduras, Yemen, Libya, Syria or Ukraine. At the dawn of 2018, nobody could accuse the American public of not giving war a chance.
