Senators have deplored the widespread misconception about their role in Parliament, which they say has caused the Senate being disrespected. Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka said on Friday though the relationship between governors and senators has improved over the last few years, Kenyans still do not understand their role. Speaking at the 2020 Senate Leadership Retreat at Sarova Whitesands Hotel in Mombasa, Lusaka said Kenyans believe in the hardware more than the software. Echoing Murkomen, Senate Minority Leader James Orengo the Senate should be given more respect because it has quasi-judicial powers. Media personality Linus Kaikai said devolution has both beautiful and ugly sides and called on Senators to check on the ugly side.
